Europe Day and Art Competition 2018

Since the primary school was closed on the 9th of May, we celebrated Europe Day on Friday, 18th of May. It was another great event with some important guests. The CES students were also joined by St. Seachnall’s 4th, 5th and 6th classes. We were happy to host and listen to a very informative presentation on what the Senate is, given by Senator Gerard Craughwell. His talk was followed by questions from students. Senator Craughwell, who is to take part in the upcoming presidential elections, told us all about his role in the Seanad Éireann and encouraged our students to think that one day they might also become Senators.

After this presentation, the students were introduced to two artists from Navan’s Arts Centre, Vicky and Arnold. They were in charge of choosing the 11 winning paintings under the title: What I love about Europe is… All CES students and St. Seachnall’s 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils were given the opportunity to participate in the competition. The winning artist were rewarded with some Arts & Hobby vouchers. There was also a special award for the overall winner. Eileen from 5th class will get the opportunity to spend a day with an artist. Well done to all the students who took part in the Art Competition. Especially well done to Michalis, Charlotte, Trisztán and Adalena who were our CES winners.

With thanks to the CES Yearbook Committee.
