To celebrate the European Day of Languages this year, the European Culture Committee organised a thoughtful activity for the students on the topic of Peace. Pupils were asked to cut out a shape that represents peace to them and to write on the shape a sentence or word relating to peace in their first language. On the 26th of September all CES primary students gathered and explained why they had chosen the shape, words, or drawing. Afterwards the students attached their symbol of peace onto a poster in the shape of a dove.

The European Day of Languages in DCC was celebrated with a workshop on Biodiversity and Citizen Science. On the 26th of September, all CES students attended the meeting in the library and enjoyed a thoughtful presentation organised by Meath Biodiversity Detectives team. Though the weather did not allow the observation of the schoolground’s biodiversity, the students enjoyed an indoor exercise on identifying local plants, bees, butterflies and birds. The workshop was a great starting point to ignite the students’ interest in our local biodiversity and to deepen their awareness of both its importance and the presence threats to the environment.
