Secondary First language
Mother Tongue (LI) provision at the CES in the Secondary School
(in accordance with Type II Accreditation to Year 5)
We provide five LI classes per week. LI subjects are taught through the mother tongue while all mainstream subjects are taught through English.
Timetable
CES students follow mainstream education at both primary and secondary levels and attend First Language classes at Irish time in the mainstream.
Programmes and Examinations
European Schools’ syllabi are used for LI. The Centre undergoes regular European and Irish School inspections.
The Centre is accredited until Year 5 at secondary level. At the end of sixth year, the students sit The Irish Leaving Certificate State examinations for the curricular subjects with with the option of one non-curricular LI exam.
Languages
Currently, we teach the following mother tongue languages: German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Slovak and Spanish.
