Secondary Second language
Second language (LII) provision at the CES in the Secondary School
(in accordance with Type II Accreditation to Year 5)
LII: In order to take up a second language, every pupil must have a sufficient level of English. They must be able to participate fully in mainstream curricula.
Programmes
- Accreditation to fifth year (secondary): LII
- The European Schools’ Programme is applied: www.eursc.eu
Junior Cycle
- LII continues: French /German
- There are no interim exams in the European Schools’ Programme. Pupils take the Irish Junior Certificate and allowances may be made for students who do so.
Senior Cycle
- LII continues: French /German
- 2 or 3 year cycle (depends on whether the student participates in Transition Year or not)
- In Year Six we provide the Irish Leaving Certificate.
